Idaho, in my chicken pasture
I just received these birds from my neighbor for free, along with a little coop. 4 hens I think. I think they have mites. He said he cleaned out the coop and sprayed it with mite killer and powdered the chickens. Is it mites? Is there anything else I can do?

Is this one a roo or a hen with one weird feather?

I would immediately worm them, this will take care of mites, too. Your local feed store will have plenty of choices of wormers, e.g. Ivermectin:

The coop your neighbour gave you is probably totally infested, so make sure you clean it really well, though you might still not catch all of them. I would also give them some really good high protein food, like yoghurt, etc. while they are regrowing their feathers and keep them separate from your other chickens, in case they have other diseases.

This will take a while to heal, so be patient, but your chickens will love you for it!

Ivermectin and other like drugs will kill lice, mites as well as endoparasites, not the eggs, but the live ones. Please check drug information or google it. But you are quite right - they are different ailments, but the mode of action of certain drugs will hit both.
perhaps you should check the efficacy of ivermectin against worms and lice in chickens....
Or Google it.
