Bare butt for years, too late to grow feathers again?

Hi all,
Poor Periwinkle has always been at the very bottom of the pecking order. She began getting her behind pecked all the time years ago. I would put Vick's Vapo Rub on it and the others would leave it alone for a few days, then start up again. Its been bare for years now. Its not raw or bloody.......just devoid of feathers.
I got some Wound Kote the other day, to have on hand. I got to thinking........can I use this on her butt, and her feathers will grow again, or is it too late? I didn't know if feathers can be pulled out so long that they just won't grow again?
Thanks.

I doubt that she will grow feathers again. I have a friend that has a bird that was practically scalped. Her wounds recovered but she never regrew feathers on her head. She was an excellent layer, just uglier than sin.

I have a rooster I just love whom I affectionately call Naked Butt. He was the low man growing up. This is hauntingly familiar. Don't worry about her lack of feathers... if shes comfortable and content and no ones picking on her now, I'd not give it another thought.

Lol don't tell anyone I told you this... but If you feel really bad for her, perhaps you can paint her bare behind with Henna to stain it the same color as the rest of her feathers - I had a friend that did that which set me off to giggling madly (both when she told me and showed me - gotta love ex- hippies!), but we both swore that the bird was happier with a brown butt than a naked one and no casual observer really noticed... . ;0

Thanks Opa and Drafthorsegal,

LOL! If I could find WoundKote in a bluish/grey, then Periwinkle might be happy again! haha
The only time it really bothers me is when its below zero and her little bare butt is out there in the cold! I might have to sew her some pants.
