Most of my hens have bare patches on their back, neck, bottom and under their bellies. One hen is especially bad. She has two bare patches on her back, as pink as a strawberry. Need help, poor hen is looking worse every day...could it be that they are pecking eachother?

Much appreciated,

I had one hen that had that also and I did notice it was getting picked on by the other hens. I am not sure what the solution is.......I will be waiting the hear a replay from others.

blue kote the areas. Any visible red places will only keep getting pecked. If you have an idea of who the bully may be, it may be necessary, if possible to separate her from the rest of the flock for a week or so then re introduce her. This will lower her rank in the pecking order

Agreed! Get Blu-Kote on that poor thing asap! And if it were me I'd separate her for sure...poor thing!!

Do you have a roo? I have seen my friends hens like this when she didn't have enough hens to keep her rooster happy. She used the blu-kote to cover the raw areas and integrated more hens to her flock.

The part that confuses me is how red and inflamed the bare areas are. Usually, rooster treading areas are the color of the skin, and this seems unusually red.

Just curious hannahsflock, on the last photo, her neck looks a bit reddish under her feathers. Is that right, or does that area seem normal? (Sorry for the bold- can't get it to stop, lol.)
