Bare spot on chick that's getting bigger?

I have 5 week old chicks of different breeds. My RIR had this little bare spot on her underside. Today I was trying to see it more closely, and as I started to push her fuzz aside to see it better, it kind of split all the way up to her chest. So now she has this seem where you can see her bare skin underneath. Is this bad? Is there anything I can do? I'm afraid it's going to keep getting bigger and bigger. I'm sad- she's one of my favorites.

That tends to happen as the chicks grow. Sometimes they grow faster than their feathers!

They only have so much down, and it covers a teeny chick quite well. But as they grow, it tends to leave patches looking bare until the chick feathers come in. Give her a few more weeks.
