barley fodder pros and cons??

i just learned about growing and feeding fodder for livestock. im very intrigued and have been researching online all night! i have chickens ducks rabbits and dairy goats and from what im seeing i can feed it to all my animals which is great! and from what im reading a fifty pound bag of barley can turn into 300 pounds of fodder!! any thoughts on this? pros cons? anyone here try it does it really stretch the dollar that far?

the systems to grow it are fairly simple to make yourself. there are several tutorials obline and i already have all the supplies on hand except barley. im wondering nutritionally would this be the best option?

I just posted a How-to on sprouting and I think the end result is similar. you greatly expand the food source and increase the nutrition.

have your animals done well on it? do you feed just the sprouts or suppliment with grain?

I am having a hard time finding a bulk size bag of barely in my area. Suggestions of the type of store. Tried a feed store. No luck.
