I think it is a rhode island red and barnevelder cross
it is 16 weeks old
It's gender I think is confused LOL
it just started to develop wattles and some what of a comb within the last few days(makes me think hen)
it's saddle feathers are rounded not pointy. (makes me think hen)
While I was trying to catch it for these pictures it made a buck buck bagawk sound IDK if roosters ever make that sound but I thought only hens do LOL so IDK if that means anything either.
it's hackle feathers look REAL pointy (makes me think rooster)
it has a tail feather longer than the rest. had more of them but the others pulled them out (makes me think rooster)

new saddle feather growing rounded ---^

That's what I was thinking. All the other chicks I got at the exact same time have shown they were roosters... weeks ago... feather and crowing...also they all had big read wattles and comb by now too. I was given 5, 3 week old, pullets.... this is the only one that was infact a pullet LOL well as of right now I am still thinking pullet LOL

hey there

looks like a pullet to me-very similar to one of our hens, sold as a layer hybrid 'maran cuivre' (copper maran). she lays nice dark brown eggs! heres some pics of her

that looks a lot like my Princess. I am not 100% sure on what she is since the person I got her from has a huge selection of chickens and just randomly collects eggs from nest boxes and randomly hatches just what ever so she never knows who laid what... I was also thinking my girl kinda looked a bit like a welsummer...

its the pattern on the hackles that make them look pointed but i'm sure if you take 2-3 of them and lay a piece of paper under them you will that they are indeed round :)

I thought it kinda looked as though there was almost an ora of red feathers around the hackles making them kinda look rounded when I inspected 1 but then they were so faint I wasn't sure if that counted since I didn't have a rooster to compare to.
