I didn't know where to post this but I was wondering about my one 3 month old barnevelder pullet. Recently she developed white ear lobes. I know that the ear lobe indicates what color eggs the hen will lay and barnevelders are supposed to lay dark eggs. So I was wondering why is her ear lobe a different color?

The earlobe thing is an old wives tale.
Let's see a picture
I did not know that I always that it was true because a judge at a chicken show told me that a long time ago. Here is the picture its not the best.

The earlobes can get a whitish covering over them. I do not want to imply that it is a growth, because that sort of indicates that something is wrong or it is something external. When in fact I do not know what it is, but it does not appear to be anything that causes trouble. Like, if you look, it will appear to be red beneath a whitish wax. This is how it appeared on one of my hens and a search on Backyard Chickens lead me to believe that other keepers had experienced this as well, with no ill effects to their hens.
