Barred chick from solid parents?

Is it possible? I've got a young red barred cockerel that is from a grey hen (not true blue) and a red rooster. Is barring something that hides genetically? Or is his colour pattern just strange and not considered barred?

Barring does not hide, but can be difficult to see in certain birds; take Delawares for example, where the barring has no effect on the Silver base, just the black. Can we see pictures of the parents please?

Momma. Bluebell. She is the only hen with a rose comb so I assume it's her chick. I don't own any hens that look barred like this chick does. And Big Al ,the only rooster.

I'd say that hen has barred mixed in there somewhere, and that's where it's coming from. Hard to tell with the blurred tail feathers (they never cooperate with the camera do they?)

Yes, the underside of the hen shows barring, so you have a little sex-link cockerel there. Mama is very pretty, but will only be able to pass the barring onto her sons.
