My barred rock chick, who is under 2 weeks old is weak and unable to chirp. I found her about an hour ago laying flat underneath the heat lamp, and she had been fine last time I checked on them. They have clean water, food, and heat, and all of the other chicks are fine. I put her under a heat lamp and fed her molasses water, and she also drank a little water. She seemed to perk up a little bit but is still weak and keeps on trying to chirp but no noise is coming out. I don't know how else to help her.

:welcome sorry for the problem. Make sure that she is not getting overheated from the heat lamp. Hard to guess what is going on, but sadly the prognosis is not good when young chicks go downhill so rapidly. Good luck. Do you have any Nutri Drench or electrolytes that you could give the chick ?

No I do not have any electrolytes or Nutri Drench, I gave her molasses water which seemed to help, and she is doing much better than when I first saw her, even though she still seems weak. I'm just unsure why she is unable to chirp.

She chirped a few times then was unable to again, and when she shakes her head she chirps. I will try to post a video of this, it looks almost like she is gasping but more like she is trying to chirp. I'm not sure if this is related to her being weak. When I first found her, she did not react in any way when I picked her up, almost like she was paralyzed, but after a few minutes she was able to move again. She also pooped it was very loose.

The chick did not make it and died just a few minutes ago. I still want to know what she had as I am worried it could happen to the rest of my chicks When I first found her she looked very weak, and before I even gave her anything she was sitting back up. I gave her molasses water and it seemed to help a lot, and I thought she was going to make it. Then a while later she suddenly got really bad again and within a few minutes she had died. Does anyone know what this could have been?

Another one of my chicks does not look good this morning, she is a 3 week old Brahma, who was very healthy up until this point. I do not know what this is but maybe it is some type of disease? I'm worried about my other chicks getting this too.

I am so sorry for your loss. Yesterday I lost two chicks for the first time so I know how you feel. :hugs

I have 5 other chicks in the same area as the ones that passed, not together with them and they are absolutely normal today.
