I have 4 barred rock chicks bought from TSC as straight run.

First will be one group shot here:

The rest of the pictures are attachments. Birds 1, 2, and 3 all have two pictures, bird 4 only has one because it was being a butthead and didn't want to show off the legs.

The colors I used for the photos don't mean anything- just differing them a bit. I have my guesses but would definitely like to know what you guys think.

Pictures are a little harder to tell but #3 and #4 are likely cockerels.

Here's what to look for: females will have a smaller more defined white dot on the back of their head. They often have a dark wash on the front of their legs.

Males will often have a whiter, spread out marking on their heads. They can have more yellow legs. As they feather, they will look much lighter, almost grey. They have a double white barring gene so while the females will be black, white, black, white. The males will be barred black, white, white, black, white, white. This will be noticeable around 6ish weeks when they are fully feathered.

Notice I'm using qualifiers like "may" and "often." This is because it depends on if they birds are bred to standards and usually hatcherys focus more on egg laying than SOP.
