I have a breeding flock with a Barred Rock rooster, Colubian Rock hens, Barred Rock hens, and Cuckoo Maran hens. I am pretty sure that I ended up with 2 roosters of each mix! Let me know if I am right or wrong?!
I know that the first one had a Barred Rock daddy, with Columbian Rock mama, so I am pretty sure the second one is the same (he is about a month younger).
These 2 have enormous, broad, feathered legs. They walk in a very heavy sort of lumbering way! Because of their feathered legs, I think their mama was Cuckoo Maran (because some of my maran hens have feathered legs).
For the last 2 in question, my camera stopped cooperating- but I got a group shot;
I am pretty sure that the 2 on the far and back left were from the Barred Rock mama. They are smaller than the other 2 dark barred birds with the feathered legs.
So... does this all look accurate?...
I am planning to keep 2 of these roos for breeding, and want the healthiest, best birds of the bunch! Not that it really matters (since the flock will be mutts), but I would just like to have an idea of what breeds are in there.
