I have a mixed amerucana roo with 8 girls, all vaguely related or atleast came from the same farm. Last season, I gained a few offspring of these chickens and I incubated some on my own and ended up with 3 barred rocks.
Now everyone is grown up and assumed egg laying. Atleast 2 of the barred rocks are laying. But the roo chases the 3 br from the food and a few times we caught him trying to hurt them... not mating but attacking, spurs and such. It seems gentle and warning like so far. What should I do? Why dont they want to mate? Why doesn't he like them?
