can someone tell me what is going on here? I am a fairly new chicken owner, these are my first chickens and they're about 2 yo now raised them from chicks. They free-range and eat organic layer, recently had to redesign the coop to add a brooder box/run for new chicks. But this came about before that. there is no sign of parasites and it is very warm to the touch. She is acting normal, eating, roaming, laying etc. someone suggested it was an ingrown feather ?
I appreciate any feedback!!

If it's under her vent, that's pretty common and I don't know why. If it's more underneath her, hens pick out all their feathers on their underside to keep eggs warm when they are sitting on them. Those would be the most common reasons.

It's not under her vent it's along her side under her wing and then I noticed another chicken has on her underside? Could they be stressed out a few of them are molting at the same time as well:(

yes I have DE and they free range over the farm and dust themselves in sand .

DE and sand will not control lice and mites or prevent them. Although sand does help somewhat, but will not make your chickens bug-free. Dust with Sevin 5% or poultry dust.

never happen they are raised organic and there is no bugs but thank you for your input

X2. DE won't treat or prevent mites/lice... I know, I tried. To me the obvious thing to do is dust them and treat their coop.
