Hi,
New byc mom here. I'm in northern CA the temps have been in upper 90's and 100's. My 10 month old barred rock has been staying in the nest for the past couple of day but not laying. She makes a constant cooing/chirping sound. She lets me pick her up and take her out of the nest. She walks fine, eats, drinks. But doesn't come out for treats or visits as before. When I bring her out into the run she just goes into the dust bath box and scratches, or scratches around the run. Usually she hangs around me or sits on my lap. Her stool this morning was very large and seemed dryer.

Broody, egg bound, other? Thanks in advance.

Does she cluck and hold her tail feathers upright in an inverted V-shape, and does she have a bare chest or belly? It sounds a bit like she is broody, but you will need to decide if she might be sick instead. Try placing an egg in front of her to see if she rolls it under her. Broodies also will flatten out and stare off into space like in a trance.

She sounds broody to me.
