Howdy neighbor, You can use almost any color patterned male with the exception of a Dominant White male. The Barred hen will pass on the barring gene to all her male chicks they will have the white dot on their foreheads at hatch and most will feather out mostly barred with various colors leaking throughout the body plumage esp in the neck(hackles), wing bows, and saddle feathers, otherwise know as the pyle zone.

ok thank you i was thinking of trying to get a barred cochin pullet or some other barred bantam breed.
