batam rooster to standard hens

i wanted to blue Cochin rooster for my blue cochin hens well i found one today he is a bantam, well my girls are a standard and they are big and sturdy girls. i am going to check him out they say he is about 3 months old, should i skip on him and get a standard size Cochin, i am new to breeding.

It depends what you want for chicks. The resulting chicks will be neither fully bantam or standard size but somewhere in between with probably a range. They most likely will not lay as large of eggs as the full standard hens you are starting with. You will be breeding your layers down. If you are just keeping them for looks though then you will get the same thing from crossing the bantam or standard version of a breed. One will just be a different size and lay different sized eggs than the other.
 
This is probably a stupid question and I'm showing my ignorance here but, since hens will lay without a rooster, how would having a small rooster affect the size of their eggs?

no question is a silly question it is for breeding purposes and if he can mated her properly because of the size difference
