bathing chickens

i was just wondering do you use soap or somthing because my white leghorn dicided to dust bathe in red woodchips and died her stomach red

I've always used dawn with a few drops of baby shampoo, make sure the water is warm and blow dry or don't let her get chilled, i have found a warm bath is great for taming one down, the cuddle time on the couch does wonders..
