ok.. i hatch all year long, in many types of bators..but today in less than 30 mins, the temp shot up to 110, i quickly opened door, and shut off power..i have 200 babies in there. i hope it was short term enuff not to kill embryo.. however???????? the thermostat seems to be functioning properly..but the wafer was warped..second time this has happened to this bator.. i put in a new wafer and all was well in 5 mins..the wafer was not old, and seems worn on the inside contact....what do i need to buy to fix this and do you think my chicks, muscovys,etc... may be ok???? i caught it soon today, but i'm afraid it'll happen during the night...can't sleep????? all other bators are full of orders..i know the hatching ins and outs like a pro..but i'm no electrician..just one country chic??? PPLLEEAASSSSEEE ADVISE.....

It is filled with about eighty eggs, all kinds of stuff I want really badly, including my silkied ameraucana eggs, DARK red brown copper black marans eggs that might hatch out blue, BLUE blue Ameraucana eggs that will be blues split to white, BBBS silkies, F2/3 mille fleur cochin eggs, barred olive eggers, lavender orpingtons, and the first super great developing of my own mottled java grandbabies. Almost 100% fertility on everything... The eggs didn't feel too hot when I touched them, so I'm hoping for at least some of them to be okay. I am keeping on keeping on until an egg stinks or fails to hatch. So... stay tuned. Good luck to you and yours too. Hopefully not too bad for either of us.

I hear more and more folks say, dump the wafer thermostats and go with electronic thermostats. ... one of the reasons. I did have an electronic Hovabator where I had to replace the works with less than one year after purchase. GQF was real cool though and sent the replacement part at no charge.
