I tested my home made bator today. I run 5 cycles. My 1st cycle was off 100, Heat rise 103, heat back on 97. The next 4 cycles were off 102, heat rise 103, heat back on 97. My question is, should i drop the temp a notch od two? The bator had nothing in it execpt the pan and sponge for water, the egg tuner, metal floor rack, bulb, fan, and thermostat.

The thermostat cycles it. When you plug it in the light comes on. When it heats up to its highest temp it shuts off the light. Then the temp goes up, you watch your thermometer until it stops going up. Then you wait until it turns back on. That is one cycle. You also watch the thermometer to see what temp it turns back on.

Place some mass in the bator. Water baloons or bags of sand. This will stop the low spikes. Or at least slow them down. Try to keep the temp as close to 100 degrees as possible.
