Today is day 23 at 2:00, none of my BCM's have hatched. They are rocking, but no pips. This will be the second group that I have had to fail. 7 others in the same incubator hatched, they were Orps. I just wonder if BCM's are harder to hatch and the conditions have got to be perfect. All eggs went in together and temp and humidity was good. Do I intervene at this point? I dont want to lose the 2 that are rocking. Any advice?

I don't think Marans are harder to hatch.....I incubate mine with my other eggs in the same conditions and have good hatches from my eggs. Were these shipped eggs?

As to whether you help or not, that has to be up to you. I don't help chicks hatch, just because usually there is a reason they couldn't hatch on their own.

These are from my hen, I would say that they could be infertile but I see them rocking. Could it just be a coincidence?

Same thing happened to me last year. 11 of the 12 BCM eggs I had were peeping and rocking. None hatched. I resisted temptation to help them after getting tons of advice here. Afterwards I opened them all up (all died trying to pip). I think it was a humidity problem. Next time (I have more incubating now) I will help them out if necessary. Good luck...let us know how it goes!

We sell and hatch around 300+ at a time, we have found that raising the temp. to 100.5 drastically increases the hatch rate. Why? We dont klnow as of yet, we just know it seems to work best for us. We are located in the South Eastern part of the country and have a naturally high humidity here constantly. We run dry until day 18 then boost the humidity to around 38-42%. All seems to do well under these conditions. We aslo hatch other varieties at the same time in the same incs. but, they seemingly hatch 4-16 hours earlier due to increased temps., but all do fine. I certainly hope this helps?
