I hatched 5 out of 6 that went into lock-down and am only going to keep 2 pullets: These pictures could have been better, but they were taking as I was going out the door yesterday. I will get better pictures tomorrow.

The one on the far left is my brahma/sebright mutt. He's/she's a week older.

I am thinking that I have a 1/2 roo/pullet split: either that or 2 pullets& 3 roos.

I've heard that comb size & color of the feet are give-aways in BCMs Am I right?

Can't tell that early, but I have a 15 week old FBCM that I'm ready to send to freezer camp. He just won't shut up in the morning.

I know it's too early to be sure of sexes, but I was just throwing it out there. I'm sorry- I didn't realize how crappy those pictures were!

Well, I was right. I had 3 roos & 2 pullets that were keepers. Then about a week or so ago the one pullet chick up and died- no visible warnings at all, just ruffled feathers, standing away from the others & I came back out that night & she was dead!

Arrrggg- why does it always have to be the females!

Anyway- here are updated pics.

He routinely looks at me & twists his head around sideways- very quizzical looking- it's pretty funny.

For a time they were crazy-flighty & I was worried about them settling down. They were also a bit buzzard-looking. I'm glad that they have finally gotten past that stage. I don't remember my chicks last year looking that ugly- especially as cute as the BCM chicks are. To bad the girl is going to a friend- I kinda wanted to keep her. At least I may be able to con her out of some eggs.
