I purchased a Penn Plax parakeet swing for my parakeet. I had a horrifying experience and now I'm just trying to let bird owners know that these swings are VERY dangerous. The hooks used to hold these swings, pierced through my parakeets chin and wrapped around his lower mandible. Thankfully I found him before I went to bed. I found him hanging by the hook, totally worn out, trying to grip the metal frame of the swing. He definitely wouldn't have made it another hour, if that. He's been seen and is on antibiotics for his wound.

wow that's pretty serious damage! I am amazed that your little friend is still with us. I hope he has a full recovery. Thanks for the warning. Even though yours may be an exceptional case, I'll definately be more careful when purchasing bird toys!

also paper towel cardboard rolls i had always given them for play toys i found mine had stuffed chewed paper in it like maybe she was trying to make a nest she got stuck, i found her the next day , she was dead i felt really bad ,

I lost a beautiful pale yellow parakeet several years ago to a toy that had cotton rope similar to this one. Several of the rope threads frayed and got tangled around her neck, I found her hanging in the cage.

You never think that toys you buy could be dangerous like that.
