Be careful with Apple Cider Vinegar

I found out the hard way that it can kill when used in galvanized waterers.

I killed my beautiful BO Rooster Jake because I didn't thoroughly read up on ACV. I just heard some people say to use it but I don't recall any warnings given. Unfortunately for me I found out the hard way that it is deadly. It took less than a week to kill him.

I'm not here to blame anyone. It's my fault. I'm here to inform in the hopes that people won't make the same mistake.

p.s. In case you don't know the acid in the vinegars will dissolve the zinc in the waterer then when they drink it the zinc will poison them. I wouldn't be surprised if the acid in tomatoes would do the same thing in a galvanized dish so be careful.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Please don't beat yourself up over it. We all have learned lessons, some harder than others. You know now and its always good to remind others about not using metal containers.

I am so sorry for you loss. He was really beautiful!

Thank you for the warning! I used a small galvanized waterer when they were chicks but didn't give them ACV. Now I know for the next batch of chicks.

I am so sorry but thank you for sharing. Your Jake looks just like my rooster and it would break my heart if anything happened to him.
At least he was well loved and cared for during his life which is so much more than many roosters get.
