I have 35 coturnix, and just today I found three adults with beak deformities. These quail are around 5 weeks old and were not born with crooked beaks! This must have happened just within the last few days because I really do keep a close eye on them, every few days I really buckle down and watch my group, looking for any signs of pecking.
All of the sudden I have 3 quail with crooked beaks. They don't line up correctly like a pair of scissors like they should.
Please, if anyone can tell me how this happened it would be great. Can quail fighting amongst themselves actually have the power to shift a lower beak? Maybe they are catching on something? Any tips on catching the perp?
My digital camera is old news so all my close-up pictures turn up toof uzzy to see the detail, so I drew a picture.
This is what all 3 of my quail pretty much look like in varying degrees, one was still fresh and bleeding.

I'm not sure how to post a picture on here so this link will bring you to a doodle of it
