Hi everyone ,
We just recently took a leap into the chicken world. Since then I've definitely learned a lot of things about emergencies. I can't seem to find anything about this type of beak injury though. Pineapple just got this today. When we went to check on them this afternoon the blood was already clotted and the hens seem to be leaving him alone. I'm just not sure what to do about his beak. Keep it clean obviously but should I try and bandage the piece back down? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to BYC. I would apply a little betadine with a QTip or Vetericyn Spray on the beak, and just watch it. The other chickens might peck at the wound if it is red. If the piece seems pliable you might want to bend it down, but I would not bandage it. Keeping her inside a wire dog crate overnight, but near the others might be a good idea. You can mix some chicken feed with a lot of water to make it mushy, and offer a bit of chopped scrambled egg as well. I would look for a sharp feeder or waterer, or fencing where she got cut.
