Bear attack & prayers for anyone else who’s lost birds

Thank you for your words of support. We will be adding extra wire to the fence down the line. Still worgaking on encompassing nearby trees in the fence so they can’t climb over. Unfortunately baiting is illegal here…

I don't think so. Never heard of it before. Only thing illegal is baiting bears(You aren't trying to bait the bear to trap it) You're trying to shock it and teach it to respect your electric fence .A call to your DNR office should clarify this.Maybe I'm wrong?

I agree. Smearing bacon fat or peanut butter on an electric fence wire, not the same as attracting critters to food stations! Find out, and bait that electric fence!

Or....just do it and never tell anyone. No lasting harm will come to the bear.

Our neighbor put out corn,apples and dog food to bait wild animals and every egg his chickens laid before predators ate them was still there when they moved

Heard from a friend that the same bears have visited another coop nearby. I’ll be calling the game warden when I get home from vacation; I meant to do it right away but stuff happens
