Hi there! My name is Lauren - a wife, mama to one toddler and doggo - and now a local chicken lady!
Here's my little intro:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I'm fairly new. This is my second go at having chickens. Last year was my first year and OHHH did I have so much to learn.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Five 2-week old chicks at the moment and 10 more on the way.
(3) What breeds do you have? Pretty sure I have at least two black copper marans, absolutely sure I have one cream legbar cockerel, and then I have two which I'm still trying to determine what they are because their colorings look like a couple of breeds.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? They're hilarious! And I love knowing that I can provide for them while they provide for us. It's also a great tool for teaching my kid responsibility.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Painting, growing plants, gardening, exercising
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I mentioned my family above.
My occupation is wedding coordinator / venue business owner. We have large farm in Maryland and are just bringing it back to life!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Internet searches have led me here over and over again. Figured I'd join!
