Bedding for Chickens..Straw or wood chips

I was wondering what you all suggest for bedding, summer I was thinking woodchips, winter when it's freezing straw. I am told woodchips aren't great, and straw is messy to clean.

I use straw in all of my coops (5)
It works perfectly

Thank you. One person I was talking to said he uses lino in his coop for easy cleaning. I thought that was pretty clever.

Yes I have Lino on the floor
And then put straw on top
The straw slips off easily
