I have a Pekin duck called Mr. Pickles who has recurring eye infections. What can anyone suggest that might provide good bedding and not contribute to this eye infection problem? I have used wood shavings, and I have used hay. Any other suggestions? Please help!

So sorry to hear about your drake with eye problems. :hugs I'm not familiar with eye problems in ducks, but I just use pine shavings and\or peat moss as bedding for my ducks and it works great. I haven't found anything that works better. Are you sure it's the bedding that is causing your drake to have eye problems?

No idea if an eye infection can be caused by bedding. @Miss Lydia @WVduckchick ?
I use hay only as the first layer on the wooden floor and cover it with several layers of straw until it is again time to clean out the whole house.
People say the cedar shavings are not good for poultry, but i don't know what cedar is doing to the birds exactly. Just check that there's no cedar in the bedding you are using.
Btw: Redwood is a cedar.
