I posted this in another section but no answers yet. I know that it is likely dependent on local weather and conditions. We're in Florida and currently use pine shavings but the chickens dig in it until they reach dirt..then toss the dirt and shavings together. A friend uses white "play sand" and uses a kittly litter scoop to clean it. I'm thinking of changing to the sand but would like some input from others first.
