I tried to put my ducks in their house for the night later than usual. It was quite dark, and my neighbor's spotlight was on. The light was casting my shadow, and tge ducks were terrified. I had a really difficult time getting them to go in their house, but eventually succeeded. My question is, should I make sure they are "in bed" before dark every night? When it starts to get dark at 5, should they be in there house then until morning? Thanks for the input!

Predators come start to hunt around dust and even before. Depends on what is in your area but yes, my ducks are in their house before it is dark. I don't even like it to be dusk when they go up. In the winter it is pretty early but in the summer it's not till 8:30 or later. Only once have I not been home in time and I was a complete wreck till everyone was locked up.

Before dark is best. My ducks get nervous when the shadows reach a certain length, which is often an hour before dark. On cloudy days they want to go in even earlier.

And some predators like early evening for hunting.
