Hello,

I've been stalking the forums since we started thinking of getting chickens. Our 8 girls are nearly 12 weeks old now. We have 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 2 White Rocks, 2 Americanas and 2 Black Stars. We're in WI and the girls should start laying just in time for the colder weather. We will see how that goes.

This is a picture of our coop with temporary run. The coop is 8'X8' with the sleeping area raised up so there's really even more square footage.

I've gotten some great ideas from this site!!
Thanks!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Lovely coop you have there, I like the idea of more room above to make more square footage. Lovely to hear you have found BYC helpful. Be sure to ask any questions that you may have, everyone here to help and very friendly.

Good luck for the future and enjoy BYC :frow

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining.) You have a beautiful coop. Thanks for posting the pic. You also have a nice mix of breeds and hybrids. Black Stars (Black Sex Links) are my personal favorites as they are very friendly and hardy, egg laying machines. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds and hybrids), and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 large, brown eggs per hen per year. You should get loads of eggs from those two girls. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
