This is my first flock and I can't believe they're already about 10 weeks old!
For years I wanted to raise chickens but we never had the living conditions to do so... until this year.

I'm so proud of my growing girls and they have taught me so much. So this thread is dedicated to my before & after photos.

A couple weeks old, romping outside while I cleaned their "house".

Within the last couple weeks, enjoying some strawberries and seedless grapes!

I don't think it's a BR. If I'm correct it's a male black sexlink who now has barred coloration as an "adult" or cockerel.

Actually... it appears that the other barred one is a black sexlink cockerel as well. Were you aware that your chicks were males, Breezy?

The feed store told me they were Barred Rock and Rhode Island Red.

I have had a nagging suspicion about that one... perhaps I'll put a Barbie and G.I. Joe in the coop and see which one it prefers.

LOL.

I'm going to subscribe to this thread. Will you post again in it once you find out the sex? I'm curious now.

I have two BR's and I'd wager that you have black sexlink males..........

Although I could be wrong! Don't tell my BF I just said those words, though. He'd faint.

Funny thing, I can hear my husband having a similar reaction.

;)

It probably won't be another 10 weeks-ish before I know if anything edible will come from him/her. Unless there is a special trick, we will just have to wait and see!

Wait, yes. I remembered another way. BR females have a black dusting on their legs that make them look kind of dirty. I don't believe I see that on yours. So perhaps they could still be BR's, but they aren't female.
