Hi and welcome to Backyard Chickens!

I am trying to recall if I've seen anyone here from North Africa. There have been some exotic locations but I'm not sure any were North Africa.

How long have you had your chickens? It will take about 6 months for them to be mature enough to lay eggs. In the meantime it sounds like you're doing the right stuff -- good quality chicken feed and I give mine greens from the garden and my kitchen too.

Make sure they always have lots of water and that they're safe from whatever predators you have in your area.

Wish I could offer something about peacocks but I don't know a thing about them.

Welcome again! I hope you'll enjoy your time here and find someone from your part of the world who will understand the conditions you're working in.

Hey Yassine, welcome to BYC! You can find a lot of really good information on the "sticky topics" part of the peafowl forums, including a lot about care and feeding.

As for your chicken feed, I would look at the protein level; peafowl need a lot more than chickens do. A lot of basic chicken feed is 16% protein and peafowl need more like 28-30%. For the peahens, extra vitamin E and B plus calcium are very good for their laying season to ensure the nutrients the eggs are getting are good enough for the chicks, and that the shells are well-made.

Hey Kedreeva,

Thank you for your advice i attach a picture of the feed i give them and now i see thats there is no Vitamin B in it.

what kind of stuff i do must now feed extra to get Vitamin E and B level higher ?

in the winter i feeded them axtra sunflowers

Sunflower seeds are great for vitamin E, as are a lot of leafy greens (collard greens, mustard greens, spinach, kale, etc) so it's likely you're doing well on those! Leafy greens also usually have a few of the B vitamins. B vitamins usually aren't high in plant sources, though, most of them are gotten through animal sources- meat, fish/shellfish, eggs. That being said, you may be able to ask at the place you get your feed, if they have vitamin supplements you can put in the water; that's what I do here for laying season. But if they can't, scrambling your birds some eggs once in a while or giving them some cooked beef crumbles would be good, and would help increase their protein intake too :D

i will try to get them some snails... hope this will be good idea !
does peacock eating fish Like ? Sardine" und "Pilchard!

Hello and welcome!

I can see North Africa from where I am, though I'm in the south of Europe.

So I wave to you across some land and water! :ya
