We are currently building a coop and have come to realize that the ramp from ground up into the coop is going to be pretty steep. We will be attaching branches to help but I am still concerned that it may be too steep.
Any advice is appreciated.

How high up is the doorway for your plan? What kind of chickens do you plan to have? Standard size chickens are pretty good at getting all over the place. Silkies... not so much. The breeds you choose will depend on how well it will work. You can make the ramp longer or consider making an L shaped ramp if space is an issue so it comes off the doorway to the side (against the coop) and then turns outward in another ramp extension giving more slope.

Thanks for the advice! I think we may be getting ameraucana, but depends on what the local feel store has. It looks like if we built the regular straight ramp it would be about a 50 degree angle; so I think we will be using your advice and trying an L shaped one.
