I have a mixed flock of BRs, Welsummers and two young EE females
and one EE male ( approx 6 months old ).
All of these chickens were raised from chicks together and get along
very well. Recently my husband completed their 'resort quality' covered and totally protected from predators huge run which is adjacent to
their chicken house where they have all lived since coming out of the
brooder stage.
DH cut a door allowing the chickens to come and go at will between their chicken house and their covered secure run area.
The ONLY chickens that have NEVER VENTURED INTO THE RUN
AREA since it has been open for two weeks are my two female EEs.
There are 48 chickens in our mixed flock and all but those two have
been LOVING the outdoor habitat - is this odd behavior common to
EE females or are mine just strange?
The 'girls' seem extremely happy and very contented staying in the
coop house and most often sit side by side on the roost and walking
around together in the house during the day - in fact often they are the
ONLY ones in the house/coop area as everyone else is 'basking in the sun, dust bathing, running around and having a great time outdoors!
Please EE people, what's up with my EE girls?
