Benefits of feeding whole grain v.s. processed pellets?

Hey Y'all,

I have read about people making the switch from a regular pelletized chicken feed to a whole grain feed that they mix themselves.

What are the benefits of feeding your chickens a whole grain diet?

I'm no expert but I'd imagine that the biggest benefit is knowing exactly what and where your chickens' feed is sourced from. I'd suggest typing "home made chicken feeds" into the search box and seeing what pops up for more info.
