Hi I used to have a Bernese Mountain dog and I thought it would be fun to hear about more Bernese Mountain dogs or just any dogs!

I have a Chihuahua and had a Boston Terrier Doxen mix until he recently passed away. Both had to be trained to leave my ducks alone and could never be trusted with the babies as they thought they were squeaker toys, lol. I have Grandchildren and a handicapped Son so later in life I have always stuck to smaller dogs.

No but i do love the breed and have always wanted a ethically bred one.
I know of a breeder who id go through. I met one of their pups a few years back. She was adorable.

Unfortunately I think so. Ours had 1/8 Saint Bernard and started showing signs of hip dysplasia but nothing major during the time we had Caspian but he got hot spot a couple of times! I would totally recommend them if you aren’t on a to tight budget and have a fenced yard. they are totally LOVE BUGS!!! (and think they are the size of one to!)

I would say watch out for hot spot (not life threatening or anything) hip and elbow dysplasia

Ive done a lot of research as i want one.
They have hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia(common in large dogs), cataracts, cancer, heart disease, eye disease, von willbrande disease, and hypothyroidism. Most are very uncommon if ethically bred with health testing

Thing is berners arent much different than goldens besides maybe size and most health issues are present in both.

They also need a LOT of grooming!

I own a 3 year old German Shepard Mix and a 4 month old Great Pyrenees Puppy!
