HEY Guys,
I have a very broody lady... Orpington... who we put 12 eggs under from our other chickens..... which are a mixture or laces, lavendar araucanas and orpingtons.
long story short
Berthas babies are due to hatch in 2/3 days but we had baby blue who could not wait ( obviously was being sat on for a week before we moved them all together.) she was content to stay sitting on them for 2 days after baby blue hatched but today has been up with baby blue forraging twice.. the eggs are cooling before i usher her back in.
1 egg is pipping and as i put her back in bertha has stood on it and it has cracked in a perfect circle around the circumference baby number 2 still chirping.... but cool.
due to berthas disinterest and the uncertainty of how long the other eggs have actually been sat on I have put the 11 remainders including the pipping egg into an incubator.
is this the right thing to do?
once they hatch i am them going to put them back under her during the night...
