Best age to free range?

I have some two month old chickens that are currently in their run and I was wondering what's a good age to let them free range? I'm not letting them out until they get a habit of going in the coop at night, and they're already getting that part down. So is two months too young to let them free range? They seem awfully small to let them roam around the yard without protection., I'm new to owning chickens they're my first flock.

Well I let the chicks go out with mama so mine free range from the start. But since yours weren't raised by a mama hen and are still small I may let hem ou when I could keep an eye on them. But that's only because I live where there's a lot of hawks and coyotes around.
