I was wondering if someone could tell me the best bedding to use on a wood bottom coop.I was think of using Pine Chips with some Hay.But I also worry about moisture.I want it to be easy to clean as well.I would appreciate any suggestions.I am Newbie to Guniea Fowl.

When warm weather gets here I'm painting the bottom of my coop in waterproof marine polyurethane like I do my animal cages or laying down cheap linoleum to protect the wood floor and then using shavings. Right now I have pine shavings and every slight thaw we get does make a mess. I should have laid pine pellets down under it but didn't plan to have nearly as many chickens in there as I did.

From having horses I know stalls mats are real expensive. I lucked out getting some at an auction otherwise no way I'd be able to afford to do my stalls. Polyurethane might cost me $10 and linoleum free to $20.

I have always used sand on the bottom of my coops and use a cat litter scooper to clean. Very, quick, clean, and efficient!

I put down linoleum in my coop. We then put down DE with sawdust pine chips.

It is swept and mopped every week. Easy clean up.
