Best breed for cold and snow?

What kinds of chickens can live best in northern WI, dealing with cold, snow, and predators? I am interested mostly in eggs and would like if they could breed and be a self-sustaining flock. Thanks.

I don't live in your climate but Chanteclers would certainly need to be mentioned as one possible answer...I have read that they may average 3 eggs a week if well maintained but that is from a breeds website...I have never had that breed.

The close-to-the-head comb breeds that are large fowl are good, too, I have read.
