I’m going to get 4 more Chickens . What breed is good and gets along with Delaware and Easter Eggers ? Also is it better to get all 4 of a different breed or should I get 2 of each same breed ? Thanks
I do not have a rooster and I don’t want a rooster. Thank youThat's a bag of mix nuts my friend. Your going to get answers all over the place.
Here's my suggestion. Pick up to 4 needs that you think you'd like. Research them. There is a great review section here...

The livestock conservancy is also a good place to learn about breeds in regards to being endangered (rarity) and background on the breed..

Then YouTube is a good place to see hopefully some cuteness.
In general just about any breed is going to get along with the next. In my opinion it's more dependent on the individual bird vs the entire breed (excluding game varieties, which you're not asking about). We have 3 species of birds, and at least 9 breeds of chicken that live and free range together, everyone gets along just fine. That including multiple rosters too.
Are you going to or do you have a male?
This part is just my opinion, but I like to get at least 2 of a breed, just in case you really like it. I only have 1 Dorking, and she is one of my favorites out of about 50 birds. I kick myself daily for not getting more when I had the chance.
Best of luck making your choices.![]()
Then I'd say that opens your selection up to whatever you find enjoyable.I do not have a rooster and I don’t want a rooster. Thank you
I do like the Orpington I like everything I have read about them . thank youThen I'd say that opens your selection up to whatever you find enjoyable.
Some of my favorite breeds here are Marans, 55 Flowery Hen, and English Orpingtons for large fowl. For bantam I absolutely love our Seramas.
The Marans we have are Blue Birchen, and French Golden Cuckoo. I have a rooster in both varieties (I know your not interested in males, but I feel like the personality of both sexes should be considered). The roosters are great at flock leading without any aggression. They are large and have a commanding presence. Same thing with the ladies. They are a good size, and hold themselves with pride. None of the girls are aggressive, but very assertive. My 2nd in command of the flock is a Blue Birchen hen, even over 4 roosters. Their eggs are beautiful too. Even a lightly colored Marans eggs is prettier than an average beige/brown egg in my opinion.
The 55 Flowery Hen has a very cool history behind it. It was bred by a monk named Silverudd, and is a sex linked Leghorn. The colors of the hens reminds me of a feather kaleidoscope, ever-changing in the light as they move. A very classical shape with a very artistic appeal. They lay large white eggs, proficiently. They are Leghorn, so they are not the most social, however I have not had a problem with flightiness. Blossom (oldest girl) is like a cat with her attention. If you try to handle her she's just going to move away, but if it's her choice, that's different. She ends up in my lap or on my shoulder daily, and loves the attention, but it has to be her idea.
English Orpingtons are just big and beautiful. I also have a rooster of this breed, ans he's a gentle giant, barely assertive. The girls are very social and constantly jumping in my lap. They love to talk to me too. Those big fluffy butts are just hard to get over, such a cute and beautiful breed. They do not lay eggs all that great, definitely not as much as an American Orpington (strange saying that, Orpington is town in England). I think they are classified as ornamental, but if you already getting enough eggs to get by, I'd highly recommend them.
Seramas are just awesome. Anyone from 3-93 years old seems to enjoy them. I don't know if you'd be interested in bantams, but they're usually a win/win choice. Though, I don't keep large fowl and bantam flocks together.
Thank YouI have 6th gen mixed breeds that lay only blue and make up most my flock, but I do really like salmon faverolles I have, there very silly and goofy and have a very good mothering ability. I also like Brahmas, and Dark Cornish. Egyptian Fayoumis, although they are a very unpopular breed and many people hate ,their personality. Leghorns are good too, and brahmas.
I'm dying to know what you decided to get?? Have you got them yet? Best wishesView attachment 2035430
