I know guinea fowl are great for insects but they're too noisy and my town won't allow them... so are there breeds of chickens that are known for stripping the insects like guinea do? Long shot, I get it LOL

Guineas are not "all that" anyway. They will eat about 90% of the ticks on their own bodies, I read, not on your property. Sorry I can't find the reference. Chickens are probably better, IMO, because they stay home better while guineas, IME, wander all over the place. And yes, I've had them. Never again, no offense to those who love them. They ate so much of the sweet feed I thought I was giving to the horses!

While all the breed characteristics that are usually generalized on charts are just generalizations, the breed's ability to free range is usually included... that may include their willingness to move about to find food, their willingness to try novel things, and their color/patterning blending in with the surroundings.

What is the climate where you live? That will determine what breeds are appropriate. My Marans are calm, personable, and forage like heck. They are by far the best foraging breed I have, including insect and bug control.
