Hi there! So i am planning on getting a new hen in the summer. But i’m kinda new with chickens, so i don’t know what kind i should get? I currently have a rhode island white and a ISA brown. One is around 6-8 months and one is around 2-3 months. They get along great. I have some requirements though. First of all, I need a very cold hardy chicken. Next, i need a very good egg laying (large to XL size egg) Third, I need a medium sized chicken. I also need a pretty friendly one, and it need to be quiet. Last, i would like it to be pretty, but doesn’t everyone? I know, it’s a lot of requests, but the main ones are egg laying, and quiet. It has to be quiet because i’m not allowed to have chickies in my neighborhood so shhh!! :lol:Thankyou so much!:bow

Lol- I suggest Wyandotte, Australorp, or a Sussex. I have all three and let me just tell you... They are the quietest, cold-hardiest (is that what you say?) , and are all very good egg layers! Speckled Sussex and Laced Wyandottes are probably your best bet for pretty and I would go with a Sussex for friendly. My Wyandotte and Australorp lay very large eggs. All three are very docile and medium size. I also suggest this breed selector on My Pet Chicken.com : https://www.mypetchicken.com/chicken-breeds/which-breed-is-right-for-me.aspx

Hope you find your chicken(s)!!! :D

Standard brahmas could be a good breed, the roosters are known to be friendly and the hens are good winter layers, as well as sitters. Though they are pretty large...
