Hi there, I currently feed my chickens chick feed, because that's the feed that came with them when I first got them. I am going to switch out their food for a different kind, which brand is the best?

All brands would be the same I’m pretty sure I mean for me they all work the same but I’m pretty sure after a certain age you need to switch it out for another feed I forgot the name and then layer pellets later on

I like Dumor's line. Some people have complained that it makes the chickens' poop smell bad but I haven't noticed any excessive smell with mine except for broody poops (and I've tried other brands too). And I'm pretty sure broody poops smell like death no matter what you feed them.

I also think it's really important to supplement with other things too though - fruit, vegetables, herbs, plain yogurt, berries, greens, live insects, dried mealworms, five grain scratch, scrambled eggs, etc...

My chickens will not eat the corn. We have tried a few different mixtures. They eat everything else and leave the cracked corn. What's up with that?

Do you give them grit? No idea why they wouldn't like cracked corn, my adult hens have always loved it. I don't give it to chicks though until they are at least six to eight weeks old, too worried about impacted crops. Plus it's just not that nutritionally sound for growing chicks anyway, when they're shooting up that fast they need their real food more than anything else.

I think if you buy appropriate food considering their species, ages, sex and laying status, the next thing is to get the freshest. It could be any brand, I ask to see the date of manufacture before leaving the store. You could ask them what they sell the most of and that would probably be the freshest.
