Best chicks for kids???

I'm looking for suggestions on the best chickens for kids! My son is 5 years old. We have an orpington and a golden laced wyandotte at the moment from last year, they're attached to me though. This year he'll be very involved so I'm looking for a good breed for kids to handle, cuddle, and love. Egg production not important, looking based on personality.

I was looking to get silkies but none arrive to my area until the end of may and no one is locally hatching. I'm due for another in July so I want to get my chicks early so I'm not dealing with
outside transition with a newborn.

I would get chickens of equal size to your current ones if you plan to put them together eventually. It won't happen for a while, if they are accepted.

Cochins and Brahmas can be very affectionate and despite their size are very gentle and calm. He'd probably like them.

I have 2 EEs, an Orp, and a Sussex. The EEs by far let my 8yo hug and kiss them more than the other 2.

Whatever you decide to get, make sure your child has primary interactions with the chicks!

Bantam cochins will the sweetest birds you have ever owned.
You will not be able to go into the pen without them begging to be picked up and cuddled.

Cochins are by far the friendliest chickens. They love to be held, and they're very calm.

Silkies their sweet, cute, fluffy and friendly but they can get stinky and dirty when older.

Cochins, Brahmas, Silkies, and Cream Legbars are all nice birds. My Easter Eggers are also very sweet.

I know this is kinda late, but Welsummers are also very friendly chickens!
