Best cockerel to keep?

I have two cockerels that I was planning on keeping, but I am worried they will fight. I love both of them and they seem to get along, but I feel they might get rough on the girls once they start to lay. I have 20 girls and 2 roosters.

He is the dominant cockerel and keeps an eye out for his girls. He does not round up the girls at night or let them eat with him. He is constantly watching out for predators and sounds the alarm at anything suspicious. I have seen him dance for girls, and call them for a special treat.

He is probably my favorite looking and has a bit of a calmer temperament. He is always on the search for predators and he is good at keeping them away. He is a bit rough when he is mating, but he has just started and the girls aren't squatting yet, so he is still figuring things out. He doesn't let them eat with him, doesn't dance for them that I've seen, and takes the best treats for himself. He does make sure everybody goes into the coop at night and rounds them up.


I want a rooster (or both if that is a good idea) to protect the girls while they free range and to hatch eggs in the future.

I say both.
you have enough "women" for them.
as long as nothing happens they'll be ok together.
