Hi, my 4 year old embden goose Dandelion lost her sister Clover a few years ago, she has been doing well until now she has quietened down and usually sleeps a lot. She isn't sick but I think she's lonely. What geese breeds would you recommend that are calm and friendly, in ireland there isn't many breeds commonly available there is - chinese geese rarely, embden, tolouse, pomeranian very rarely, sebastopol. I really love the tolouse.
Thanks

What kind of different care would they need? Is it a good idea to get her a friend? I would get a goose instead of a gander as I heard they could be aggressive. Would it be better to get adults or goslings? I know there wouldn't be goslings available now.

They need clean water to swim in more frequently, and they have a harder time keeping warm.

I’d get her a friend if you can, yes. Geese love having other geese. Another goose instead of a gander is just fine.

If you want to get her one friend, I’d look for an adult goose closer to her age. If you want to get her many friends, adults or goslings would both be fine.

Definitely not a gosling, probably between 10 months to 4 yo
Introduce them gradually, one way it to make a makeshift enclosure for the new goose so she can see your goose and they can get used to each other safely and get used to her new yard. After a few days let her and your goose out together.

I've seen some really nice sebastopol goslings they are female and off heat. Would it be a good or bad idea to get them. Would she still bond.
