So my little broody bantam finally broke on her own and now it seems she's gone straight into a molt. The poor girl is blowing feathers everywhere.

The flock currently is on an 18% protein layer pellet. For the past week I've been offering Manna's Gamebird/Showbird 24% protein crumbles moistened in a separate feeder that the bantams frequent more than the rest of the flock. For the past couple of days I've noticed her chowing down on it. No doubt she's making up for having eaten less while being broody and I'm glad she's choosing the higher protein food. I also have Big Ol' Bird organic poultry supplement that I started adding to their water today. I'm offering more BOSS and mealworms in with their scratch in the morning, but no more than a handful or two daily. Is there something better I could be doing to help her through the molt quickly?

Its sounds like you are doing a great job!

Some scrambled eggs or feather fixer food could help her out as well.

Duh, eggs! Thanks for the reminder.

I looked briefly at Nutrena's Feather Fixer. Does it have something that what I'm currently offering doesn't? It looked like 18% protein and a lot of probiotics.

I was thinking of adding an animal protein? It would be easiest if it were already in the feed. The bantams don't get bullied, but they don't get a fair share of any meat scraps I put out.
